about

Thank you for checking out my website. My name is Tatiana, and this is my portfolio and not a sale-of-services display. All these photos present real furniture which I repaired, reconstructed, or made; the why2waste dolls were designed and made by me together with my husband Sigurður.

My interest in craftsmanship arose eight years ago, and since then it has led me up a steep learning curve from a passionate amateur to a master-craftsman – the qualification which I obtained via professional education and two-years’ apprenticeship in Iceland, a series of Leonardo and Erasmus internships in Denmark and the UK, and a continuous self-education. Today I am a PhD candidate at the School of Business of the University of Iceland, and my professional interests lie in sustainable development of traditional crafts in the 21st century realm; my previous background is in structural engineering and marketing management; these days I share my time and my creative energy between my office and my craft studio, addressing the theme of craftsmanship through intersecting theoretical and practical perspectives. If you have questions, ideas you would like to share, or suggestions of a project you would like to invive me to participate in, please contact me at vefarinn (at) outlook (dot) com. Thank you again!
